The Chronology of the United Nations provides a useful chronological guide to the events that shaped the growth of the United Nations from its inception in 1945 to the present. Entries define each event and its importance to the growth of the UN. Entries also trace UN policy on such topics as human rights, public health, peace keeping, economics, developing countries, and much more. A topic index is included to make searching especially easy. A list of abbreviations and acronyms assist the user, as well. The Chronology of the United Nations is a volume in the ARUNA series (Annual Review of United Nations Affairs). ARUNA presents a comprehensive, authentic and in-depth description of the work of all the United Nations' sessions. Based on the UN "year", which begins in September, ARUNA contains primary source documents from each of the major organs of the UN: the General Assembly, The Security Council, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Trusteeship Council, the International Court of Justice and the Secretariat. Selected reports of intergovernmental bodies and expert groups, as well as other materials, are also included.
Each year, a new guest author provides an introduction to the set, analyzing the major themes covered throughout the year. ARUNA is a subscription product. To subscribe please contact customer service at 1-866-445-8586
