The 4th in the "Shardlake" series, set in the 16th century. King Henry VIII is wooing Lady Catherine Parr, whom he wants for his 6th wife. Shardlake, meanwhile is working on the case of a teenage boy, a religious maniac who's been placed by the King's council in Bedlam. The last Shardlake novel, "Sovereign", was a "Sunday Times" bestseller in hardback, and Sansom's stand alone book "Winter In Madrid" sold 300,000 copies. This is the first of his novels to feature a serial killer, and is certain to broaden his market further.
