This book provides the most up-to-date research on follicular lymphomas and other types of cancer, including the identification of causes and the developmental strategies for prevention, diagnosis, treatments and cure. Follicular lymphoma, also known as "nodular lymphoma", is the most common of the indolent non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. Among several research topics on follicular lymphoma, this book includes a possible explanation of the success or failure of Rituximab, vaccination and immunotherapy and discusses the need for new and more appropriate immunotherapeutic strategies. Ovarian cancer, which remains the number one cause of death from gynaecological malignancies, is also looked at. In an effort to improve the results of treatment, this book examines the use of cytoreductive surgery and perioperative intraperioneal chemotherapy. Finally, haematological malignancies, which affect blood, bone marrow, and lymph nodes and the use of stem cells, such as peripheral blood stem cells, are examined in light of the fact that they provide a rapid and effective recovery after the administration of chemotherapy and radiation. This book also includes current research in prostate cancer and discusses better ways to diagnose prostate cancer by using a biochip-based test system.
