A real understanding of the patient's problems, aimed at developing an effective therapeutic plan, requires an attitude oriented towards a global approach. To achieve this goal, especially in the case of complex clinical problems such as those of the craniofacial region, it is necessary to have an overview and, at the same time, a specific consideration for the different aspects.
On this basis, the volume deals with the correlations between orofacial functions, occlusion and posture to better understand the proper diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that can be followed towards issues of multidisciplinary relevance, involving dentists, orthodontists, speech therapists and otorhinolaryngologists. Thus, the book analyzes the therapy used in the treatment of so-called myofunctional disorders, i.e. changes in the mobility and tone of the orofacial musculature. The discussion also focuses on topics such as syndromes or specific pathologies apparently unrelated to the orthodontic field, but which a craniofacial specialist must know, such as otitis media with effusion, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, Down syndrome (also through the analysis of specific clinical cases).
The volume is linked to a dedicated web area - Learning on Cloud - with multimedia materials (60 videos).
Potential readers: dentists, odontologists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, pediatric dentists, otorhinolaryngologists, speech therapists, posturologists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, students of the respective degree courses and specialization.
