A rare nineteenth-century English example of an alternatim office hymn setting. The glorious Gregorian melody for Passiontide and feasts of the Holy Cross alternates with spacious harmony of noble simplicity. Wingham was Director of Music at the London Oratory from 1882 until his death in 1893.
