"Stompin' At The Savoy" opens with a razor-sharp guitar-funky performance and the guaranteed crowd-pleaser and first Rufus number 1 single "You Got The Love". Rufus was a formidable machine on stage with two hugely talented voices upfront, Chaka Khan and guitarist Tony Maiden. The album also contains a nice funkified reworking of Marvin Gaye's "Ain't That Peculiar". Rufus and Chaka were at their very, very best, so much their ‘LIVE’ versions sound even better than the originals. The last quarter of the double album contains 4 new studio recordings including the now famous “Ain't Nobody” and a wonderful rendition of the jazz standard, “Don't Go To Strangers”.
