Männer trauern als Männer
The stereotype that men grieve differently than women persists. Male grief is often associated with activism, functioning, repression or emotional hardship. Such attributions lead to a one-sided and thus also narrow view of mourning men. As a result, men but at the same time women too are stereotypically fixed on certain behaviors, instead of being encouraged to grieve in their own individual way and thereby correspond to their own image of masculinity. It's easy to lose sight of why people mourn the way they mourn. Norbert Mucksch and Traugott Roser question clichés by looking at grieving men from very different perspectives. In your book, you let men have their say who have faced a variety of losses and have each had to redefine their identity as men. The practice-oriented book presents creative approaches and methods that are helpful in supporting men in grief.
