Famous for their fabric installations involving both urban and rural sites, Christo and Jeanne-Claude have created some of the most controversial and compelling artworks of the twentieth century. On either a moderate or monumental scale, they offer a paradigmatic artistic experience that can be transcendental or outrageous, depending on one's perspective. The catalogue, which accompanies a travelling exhibition, includes works from the Museum Wurth in Kunzelsau, Germany, which has one of the most comprehensive collections of Christo and Jeanne-Claude's work in the world. The book explores five decades of work by the incomparable artistic team. The exhibition opens at the National Academy of Design, New York on 8 October, 2004. It then travels to at least six more venues including Bass Museum, Miami Beach, Portland Museum of Art, Austin Museum of Art and Fresno Mentropolitan Museum.
