Schumann: Fantasie in C major, Op. 17
Schumann: Arabeske in C major, Op. 18
Schumann: Kinderszenen, Op. 15
Schumann: Album für die Jugend, Op. 68: No. 30, Sehr langsam
The late 1830s, though a difficult period in the personal life of Robert Schumann, saw the emergence of some very bright piano works.
Here, Fabrizio Chiovetta presents three of them, illustrating different aspects of the composer’s poetic style.
We find Schumann free and passionate in the Fantasie, dedicated to Liszt, lyrical and intimate in the Arabeske, then simple and tender in the Kinderszenen, in which, after all the games and caprices and childhood frolics, the poet finally speaks.
"This release will doubtless satisfy discriminating Schumann aficionados as well as devotees of individual piano-playing at the highest level." - Gramophone Magazine, February 2023.
