EMU Convergence and the Structure of Social Protection Financing
This study approaches empirically the question of convergence of social protection financing in the 14 EU countries in the 1990’s. There are two main issues considered. First is the discussion on the typology of the financing models. Is there any convergence towards some common financing model or model groups in the EU? This issue is important to reducing the number of alternative financing models. The second issue is
the question of time paths and speed of convergence during different time periods. Are there for instance tendencies towards using more tax financing and if so, how has this
development occurred in different country groups?
