Experiment: Colliding two negatively charged sources in order to produce a new form of Cold Fusion power for future Terrain Space Travel.
Accident: Malfunction results in a super-negatively charged energy wave which destroys half of Geneva and causes mass casualties.
A minority of the survivors are affected by the energy wave which causes DNA mutation resulting in superpowers.
