This book is designed specifically for the new A levels in Philosophy offered by the AEB and JMB examination boards and for first year undergraduates coming to the subject for the first time. It provides an introduction to some of the main problem areas of philosophy by paying special attention to the works of philosophers, past and present. The solutions offered by philosophers are examined critically and the book concludes with a discussion of social and political issues, showing how the techniques of philosophy can clarify such issues.
