This secondary school text has been designed to include all the important topics in Bahamian history from the Arawaks to the present day.

This book is written especially for students in Grades 8 and 9 in Bahamian Junior High Schools. It is intended as a basic textbook for the Bahamas Junior Certificate course. In addition to material in the Bahamian past, each chapter has a background section which puts the topics into its historical setting. This also serves to introduce the student to topics and themes beyond the islands. Each chapter also contains 'Tasks' and 'Things to Do' sections.
