Song names and introduction in English and Russian, lyrics only in Russian.Andrey Petrov instilled new trends into the Soviet song. Unique sense of melodious line delicately mingled genres, masterful synthesis of stylistic innovations — Soviet lyrical song, jazz, Russian romance and modified French chanson. Andrey Petrov does not imitate Michel Legrand, Jacques Brel, Vladimir Cosma, but resorts to their methods. French chanson uses laconic expressive means. Every song is a dramatic scene with its flair and lyrical character. This mood is embodied in the dialogue of melody and the second voice. Consequence of rests and caesuras descends from the French post-war jazz, so as fanciful rhythm, when the melody follows the breath of verses. He managed to nourish his songs with special view, wisdom, dole, simple-hearted acceptance of life. His songs are the sounding epoch itself, with its hopes and dreams. So as the songs by Dunayevsky, Solovyov-Sedoy, the “Beatles” they were, but not just the ground for his time, for generations of people were living according to the maxims laid in the song by Andrey Petrov.Konstantin UchitelContents:Editor’s PrefaceK.
