With its emphasis on research done at the Masters level, Canadian Music and Music Education helps to fill gaps in Dissertation Abstracts with respect to identifying theses and dissertations related to Canadian music completed at U.S., Canadian, and foreign universities. Divided into fifteen sections, the bibliography places dissertations into categories ranging from general analytical studies to ethnomusicology and the psychology of music/music theory. It identifies over 1200 theses or dissertations dealing with Canadian music or music education in Canada. Works in the latter category include projects directly related to the Canadian educational field and experimental studies conducted using Canadian subjects. The section on original compositions includes both works produced to fulfill degree requirements at Canadian universities and works with Canadian connections completed at external institutions. Cross references are included to other relevant sections, and detailed subject, author, institution, and title indexes will further assist the reader in finding relevant information. Includes U.M.I. order numbers and National Library of Canada Canadian Theses numbers to identify materials available for purchase.
