Written in the belief that any student can learn statistics if those statistics are introduced as solutions to particular problems, this new book will make statistics accessible and clear for students.
In Statistics for the Social Sciences, students are introduced to a problem, are asked to consider, conceptually, how one would address that problem, and then are led through the derivation of the appropriate statistical formula. Only after they have engaged in that critical thought process are they led through the appropriate statistics. By seeing statistics as cumulative, students are less likely to be confused or thrown by each new procedure to which they are introduced; they will see them as borne out of those procedures they have already learned and mastered.
