Based on the rue tales of Bill & Bud Perkins of Jefferson Davis County in Mississippi and shy courtship of John M. Perkins and his love, Vera Mae Williams. These tales were compiled by author, Derek Perkins, in an attempt to preserve family stories and describe the fighting spirit of black Mississippi families during an era of unyielding oppression.
