1924. This book is a short introduction to a subject the vastness of which would require many volumes to do it justice. Some account is given of the nature of Spanish mysticism and of the works of the greatest of the many mystical writers who figure in Spanish literature in and about the 16th century. For the rest, the author has been content to select a few representative passages from thirteen such authors and to let them speak for themselves.
