Tenth-Century Studies - Essays in Commemoration of the Millennium of the Council of Winchester and Regularis Concordia
The central text of the tenth-century monastic revival is Regularis Concordia whose ‘History and derivation’ is contributed by Dom Thomas Symons, the most recent editor of the text. Other chapters in the book serve to put the text and the movement which produced it into their historical, literary and artistic context. This includes ‘Progress of the Monastic Revival’ which gives a brief account of the reform itself, while ‘Continental Background’ and ‘Church and State’ go more deeply into political events and theories of the time.
