A young man falls in with the punk-new wave crowd in Tucson during the late seventies, running the downtown streets with two high school girls and Jorge, a former gang member from the south side. Meanwhile, he falls in love with a beautiful girl from an aristocratic Mexican family, becoming the protege of her mysterious grandfather - Don Pedro - and running afoul of her Mexican-mafia connected father. Looming over everything is Don Pedro's enigmatic servant, a mute Indian from the the highlands of Central Mexico. Connections are explored between culture, identity, and the nature of reality.
