John Barnes, Chief of Security at a nuclear weapons facility and his wife live for pleasure, until their kids come along. John's adoration of his children leads him to make adjustments that his wife cannot. In the aftermath of an ugly divorce, he centers his whole life around his kids. Then the terrorists, led by the most secretive heartless one of all, known only as The Well, impact John's life and safety. John discovers that he is uniquely qualified and has the ultimate weapon at his disposal to seek retribution, and refocuses his life to end the terror. He moves steadily forward, determined that no geographical, political, or emotional obstacle will keep him from his goal.
