Richmond Health Services strives to improve the quality of patient care, patient safety and patient and staff satisfaction. Many initiatives have been implemented to streamline patient movement through the services of Richmond's continuum of care. The primary objective of this study is to explore the influence organizational culture has on patient flow initiatives. A specific focus is set on aspects of organizational culture within multidisciplinary teams, unit teams and program teams on medical units at the Richmond Hospital. The analysis should help to answer the questions: How does organizational culture influence the effectiveness of patient flow initiatives within the medical units at the Richmond Hospital? How do patient flow initiatives shape the organizational culture? How could the behaviour of the individual healthcare provider enhance the patient flow development? How does patient flow affect the development of relationships between the care teams within the Health Service Delivey Area? The book is addressed to professionals in Healthcare like project and program managers, educators, and anyone who is thinking about developing and implementing initiatives that will create change in the routine of others.
