Onora O'Neills shows that justice and virtue need not necessarily contradict one another and that, by means of a carefully conceived plot, an analysis (which is illuminating also in respect of its content) can be made of these apparently contradictory terms of departure without their having to be shored up by some kind of metaphysical foundation.
