The Search for Human Ancestors on the Roof of the World: Explorations in Mongolia and Tibet
Since 1995, John Olsen's work in Central Asia has come to focus on a project known as the Joint Mongolian-Russian-American Archaeological Expedition, a project that is investigating the areas now known as Mongolia and Tibet. Mongolia and Tibet have shared many common historical and cultural connections, and had a common border about 100 years ago. This paper provides a description of the archaeological excavations (including field reports) in 2000 and 2002, and discusses some of the conclusions that can be made from the study.
