Gateways: Kunst und vernetzte Kultur
GATE(WAY)S presents artists who explore the changing conditions of a networked world that is being increasingly influenced by media. Their works reflect the "digital turn" by demonstrating how art behaves in today's global communications networks, as well as how it creates access to connectivity and information-or challenges them. In the process, existing technologies are used as social, community-building instruments and tools. The practice of art is regarded as a chance to make suppressed knowledge visible, as a gateway to information. Through very different artistic formats-from screen-based installations to sculptural environments, the use of mobile technologies, sound walks, and more-the artists inquire into the impact an increasingly networked world will make on our actions, our perception, and our experience of the world.
