Plays of the New Democratic Spain (1975-1990)
This is the first anthology in English to focus on Spain's theater of the democratic period. The volume contains six plays in English by major Spanish dramatists representative of the themes and techniques that found favor with Spanish critics and audiences in the post-Franco democracy. The six works include Antonio Buero Vallejo's Lazarus in the Labyrinth; Enrique Jardiel Poncela's Eloise Is Under an Almond Tree; Jaime Salom's Bitter Lemon; Fernando Fernan Gomez' Bikes Are for Summer; Rodolf Sirera's The Audition; and Jose Luis Alonso's Going Down to Marakkesh.
