"Letter from America" tells of the life of Donald John who, in the years after the Great War, leaves Uist to work as a policeman, initially in Glasgow and later in New York. Donald John's feelings and thoughts are very natural and affect most of us: love and hate, marriage and separation, deceit and violence, success and disappointment, good times and bad times. The end of "Letter from America" is a reminder that, 'As a man sows, so he must reap'.
