Traumatized by a German Shepherd as a small child, Alice is frightened when her husband decides to add a dog to their house.  In a bid to overcome her fear, Alice picks the pooch herself, and from the moment she meets Cara, it's love at first sight.  But Cara causes problems in their urban home, chasing chickens and skunks and cavorting around the neighborhood.  Only when the couple moves to a more rural area does Cara, captivated by the sights, scents, and sounds around her, prove to be a spirited, loving, and loyal lifelong companion.  This story will give pet owners a renewed appreciation for their animals, and others will come away with a clear idea of what they've been missing.
