This is the first text to provide a comprehensive exploration of the efforts, the achievements, as well as the set backs involved in the “movements” toward equality for American women. It utilizes a historical approach to guide the reader through three highly active periods, (the early woman's movement, the suffrage movement, and the women's rights movement) that contributed to the political, economic, and social equality women have gained since the late nineteenth century and what they strive for today and for future American women.
