In submitting to the public the following articles on water finding, by the method known as dowsing, or, with the divining rod, the authors are fully aware of the fact that, although the method has been practiced from time immemorial, and has achieved unquestionably astonishing results, it has not been accepted as proven by the scientific world, generally; and they anticipate that the following narratives will be subjected to the same kind of criticism as has been leveled against similar works in the past, especially by those who will not accept as truth, what they themselves are unable to appreciate, or prove, by certain defined and known laws.
