Originally written in Dutch, Jahangir’s India is the English version of Remonstrantie translated by W.H. Moreland and P. Geyl. This small volume largely covers economic aspects during the reign of Jahangir (1605-27), such as land revenue systems, productivity, and trade in drugs and indigo. The book contains a vivid description of Mughal provinces, such as Agra, Gujarat, Deccan, Kashmir, etc. It also mentions the trading networks in Gujarat, Agra, and other places. The author discusses the emergence and mercantile activities conducted by the East India Company and the Dutch trade activities in India.
