Strategies for Sustainable Sediment Management
This work presents a comprehensive approach for the long-term management/conservation of sediments within a watershed to maintain current and future services (both economic and ecosystem-based) while balancing broader environmental, economic, and societal concerns. The book surveys natural sediment transport processes within watersheds and coastal environments, existing tools and technologies for managing sediments, and potential strategies toward development and implementation of sustainable sediment management at the regional scale. It features international experts in sediment transport, flood control, sediment treatment and management, risk assessment, environmental law, and decision theory.
