Dzambo and Jumila are a power couple like no other. Living in a village in Mozambique in the 60s, the pair face discrimination and persecution from all angles. Jumila, with her Indian heritage and fierce personality, is looked upon with frowns by the elders of the community. Dzambo, who supports and falls in love with her, is laughed at by the men in his village for his apparent inability to control his woman, as is the custom. But their love for one another is destined to beat the odds, and their combined determination is soon to butt heads with the outdated traditions held by their neighbours. All that is nothing, however, compared to the totalitarian rule of the colonialist Portuguese in Mozambique. Dzambo and Jumila share a dream of freedom and equality for all and they're soon setting their sights higher than the battles they fight with the elders in the village. With the Mozambican War of Independence on the horizon, can Dzambo and Jumila make a difference in silencing their oppressors?
