Police Photography, Sixth Edition, discusses the fundamental principles of police photography. Toward that end, this book is organized into two main themes: (1) the photographic process; and (2) the application of photography to police work. The original text has been updated with materials on cameras, films, equipment, processing techniques, videotapes, and digital imaging.
The book begins with a brief history of police photography and a general discussion of the various uses of photography in police work. It then introduces some basic concepts, such as the properties of light and types of photography equipment, including cameras, films, and lenses. Topics such as film exposure; the components of a darkroom; and black-and-white and color film processing are discussed. The remaining chapters deal with digital photography, accident photography, crime photography, evidence photography, identification photography, photography of documents, ultraviolet photography, fluorescence photography, and infrared photography.

  • Step-by-step instructions show both experienced and inexperienced photographers the best way to capture specific situations encountered in law enforcement.
  • A wide variety of photographs and illustrations demonstrate techniques and complement the material.
  • A glossary provides a quick reference for looking up important definitions.
