Profiling and Comparison of Drugs of Abuse
This book examines the facets of drug analysis relating to the profiling and comparison of substances controlled by the Misuse of Drugs Act. It considers the legislative framework in which drug comparisons are carried out; the analysis and comparison of drug packaging; the analysis and value of the comparison of drug, adulterant and diluant content of drug seizures; the analysis and comparison of drug impurity profiles and the analysis and comparison of DNA profiles of herbal and fungal drugs. The drug classes considered are those for which comparison is usually requested by the legal authorities, namely Cannabis and its products, amphetamine, methamphetamine, ring substituted amphetamines (especially MDA and MDMA), heroin and cocaine.
