The environmental and human health impact of major chemical accidents, such as Bhopal and Chernobyl, may be severe. This book develops concepts and strategies for scientifically assessing ecosystem response to chemical accidents, reviewing case histories, and outlining the common features involved in such accidentd. Sampling and modelling strategies are considered along with the interpretation of ecological and ecotoxicological data with the aim of establishing how best to assess ecological impact and recovery.
