Mark Casey has left the rural community where his family has farmed for generations to study for a doctorate in Dublin. To his father, the pursuit isn't work at all and indeed Mark finds himself in pubs and at parties. Then he meets Joanne Lynch, a trainee solicitor. Joanne too has a past to escape and they share the rapture of a new love affair, until tragedy changes everything.
