This title will provide a quick, precise and accurate outline of zoonotic diseases. It will concentrate on those components integral to case recognition and accurate diagnosis, treatment, and prevention and control, whether in humans or animals.

An Outline of the Zoonotic Diseases is not designed or intended to cover every fact known on each zoonotic disease, but will provide key references in the scientific literature as well as information on authoritative web sites when additional information is needed.

Each disease entry in the outline will cover species affected, etiology and pathology, global distribution, vectors and reservoirs, clinical and laboratory diagnosis, screening programs and tests with sensitivity and specificity, appropriate treatments, disposal of infective tissues and carcasses, control procedures and prophylaxis. Photomicrographs of the organism will be included if necessary for identification.
