Solid Food for the Mature Believer
This book starts by discussing the being, nature and character of God. You can't grow spiritually unless you are willing to deal with all aspects of God's nature and character, not just the "God is love" mantra the sons of evil use to lull the world (most especially unbelievers) into a sense of false security. Of course, I am not denying that God is love. This book assumes that any mature believer has been thoroughly acquainted with the more pleasant aspects of God's character and nature: that He is full of loving kindness, graciousness, compassion, and so forth. What Scripture clearly teaches, however, is that God is much more than love. He is also holy and righteous, a consuming fire, terrifying in aspect, a being to be greatly feared, as we would fear anything dangerous to us. Sadly, we don't understand or take this to heart any more.
