It is not so much the object of the author of this book to make a chart of the dangers to be avoided in life's voyage as to mark out a course that is sane and safe. It is sent forth as a beacon, in the hope that it will be the means of guiding voyagers away from the rocks and reefs on which unnumbered youths have been wrecked in the past because they were not safeguarded by the light of self-knowledge.
