There is a growing awareness that the Church must commit to radically new agendas and fresh initiatives in order to connect the gospel with the widest possible spectrum of our society. Faith, commitment, sacrifice and boldness are needed - and an emerging generation of pioneering leaders focused on breaking new ground and growing Christian communities where none have flourished for many years, if ever. This book emerges from the strategic thinking and shared experiences of those attending the Breakout Pioneers Conference (www.breakoutpioneer.org.uk), an annual three day gathering of pioneer church leaders, both lay and ordained, from across the denominations. Established to seek out and draw together pioneers, the gathering also looks to support and train them so that they are free to pioneer as God leads them. Contributors include: •Richard Bauckham is Professor Emeritus in the University of St Andrews and Senior Scholar at Ridley Hall College, Cambridge. •Adrian Chatfield is Director of the Simeon Centre for Prayer and Spiritual Life at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. He is also a member of the Fresh Expressions team with responsibility for prayer and spirituality. •Bishop Graham Cray is the Archbishops' Missioner and leader of the Fresh Expressions team. •John Drane is a mission consultant, co-chair of the Mission Theology Advisory Group and also Professor of Practical Theology at Fuller Seminary in California. •Peterson Feital is originally from Brazil and has been an evangelist for 16 years. He worked as a mission and discipleship adviser for large churches in Brazil and was a Bible lecturer at a Baptist University. He is now training to be an Ordained Pioneer Minister. •Beth Keith is Learning Networks Coordinator for the Fresh Expressions team, developing and supporting learning networks, and works for the Church Army's Sheffield Centre. •George Lings is the Director of The Sheffield Centre, Church Army's research unit into fresh expressions of church and church planting. •David Male is the Director of the Centre for Pioneer Learning in Cambridge and teaches pioneers in training at Ridley Hall and Westcott House in Cambridge. Previously he was part of the team that planted the Net Church in Huddersfield. •Kate Middleton is a psychologist and was director of Anorexia and Bulimia Care. She is now Director of Care at Hitchin Christian Centre. •Lucy Moore is a professional actor and storyteller who started the first Messy Church. She is a member of the Barnabas children's ministry team that now oversees Messy Church activities in the UK. •Mike Moynagh is based at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, works for Fresh Expressions as editor of Share and has a watching brief for the education and training of Ordained Pioneer Ministers. He is also co-director of the Tomorrow Project, which advises businesses and government on social trends. •Mark Russell is the Chief Executive of Church Army.
