The Alabama Confederate Reader
"The Alabama Confederate Reader", published originally in 1963, is a compilation of over excerpts from printed and manuscript diaries, journals, letters, official reports and accounts in newspapers and periodicals that were written during the Civil War. These personal accounts are intended to generate a deeper understanding of the Civil War period by allowing those who lived through the war to present, in their own words, the story of their great struggle.
