Coalitions and Policy Coordination - Revision and Impact of the European Employment Strategy
In the mid 1990s, EU's member states decided to coordinate their national employment policies through a common European Employment Strategy. This book examines the current state of strategy. The first part of the book concentrates on the continuous development of the strategy at European level where particularly coalition-building and ongoing power struggles between the European institutions, the member states and other key stakeholders during the development of the European employment strategy are the main focus. The second part of the book looks at the impact of the strategy on national employment policies in Denmark, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom.
