By making use of research and development in companies and at universities, mankind has increasingly experienced societal changes for the better, also in its everyday life. These modernizations, or innovations, have one thing in common: they are more strongly knowledge-driven than ever before and often the result of cross-border cooperation. Trough facts and figures, this paper is describing some aspects of global knowledge development. The Institute for Innovation & Social Change at the School of Business, Economics and Law of the University of Gothenburg is focusing research, education and innovative thinking, aiming at an increased utilization of academic knowledge resources in society.
