Functional anatomy is about the structure and function of the body in its living state. Today's student of anatomy needs a grounding in the basics of human anatomy taught in such a way that it can rapidly be recalled during clinical training and can provide a basis for future study. This book encourages the student to observe precisely and to record the structure and macroscopic functions of the living body. The majority of observations are made with the eye or the hand, complemented by modern imaging techniques, the study of prosections, and a limited amount of dissection.
