The lovely Isle of Skye (An t'Eilean Sgiathanach) or 'Winged Isle' is well known for its landscape - mountains, lochs and headlands, but equally so for its history and legends. It was here that Flora MacDonald rescued Bonnie Prince Charlie, bringing him: "Like a Bird on the Wing, Over the Sea to Skye." The return of the White-tailed Sea Eagle, now 'on the wing' around the island, gives one illustration of the wealth that this part of Scotland has to offer the wildlife tourist. This book is a travel companion for an interesting tour of the North East 'Wing' of Skye, telling of the harshness of earlier times, the prosperity of the present and hopes for a vibrant future.
