Progressive and ever-growing globalization has contributed to the spread of the English language all over the world, to the extent that the mastering of English has become an essential pre-requisite for everyone to enter the labour market. This English Manual will help the reader not only to develop his or her linguistic abilities but also to gain confidence and self-assurance in the use of the English language regarding the four communicative skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The book consists of eight units, intended to facilitate the learning of English as a second or foreign language (LESL/LEFL). The units are organized according to the different contents they include. There are lexical and semantic, grammatical, orthographic, phonetic and phonological, sociolinguistic and sociocultural contents and units referring to language functions and text coherence and cohesion. Once the reader finishes the study of this book, he or she will be able to comprehend and produce English texts and speeches, as well as to participate in oral conversations about daily and personal topics, using common English structures and a wide range of vocabulary. In addition, readers may take the B1 level test of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
