Marcus Meibom (16301711) is not a well-known figure today, but in his day he was a controversial polyhistor, famous among the early-modern intellectual elite for his basic work in Greek philology and music theory. This study of Meibom's life and work explores his most peculiar private life, marked by controversy and scandal, and at the same time sheds new light on his scientific contributions in mathematics, philology, music, ancient history, biblical exegesis, manuscript collection and sea history.
