On his new album, Daniel Barenboim performs Beethoven’s Complete Piano Trios with his son Michael Barenboim and cellist Kian Soltani. The trio, founded by Barenboim 2016, recorded the two concerts performing the seven piano trios in the Pierre Boulez Saal Berlin, December 2019.
“There is a lack of equality in the world”, says Daniel Barenboim. “For only if everybody were equal would there be no conflicts.” Equal standing is also indispensable for the piano trios of Beethoven, whom the pianist-conductor has always regarded as one of the most important, if not the most important, of all the composers in his life.
