It's the beginning of the 20th century - the age of scientific progress, but for Venice, the future looks bleak. A delegation of scientists arrives, among them Teodora's parents, who aim to keep Venice alive. Within days, she is drawn into the secret life of Venice, where mermaids run businesses and ghosts patrol the streets. Only she has the power to restore order. A sequel is planned for 2010, set in London at the time of the death of Queen Victoria. Ages: 9-11yrs.
